La Nef

Historic Roots, Unique Living.

A Residence with a Remarkable Past

Designed by the architect of the General Council of Seine-et-Marne and constructed in 1845, the building served as a prison from 1855. For over a century, La Nef stood as a symbol of institutional history in Fontainebleau.

From Heritage to Home

Today, La Nef is completely transformed into 22 contemporary residences. Its heritage is preserved, while the interiors are reimagined for comfort, style, and modern amenities. Living at La Nef means becoming part of a living legacy – where echoes of the past meet the energy and aspirations of today’s international community.

Ideally located in the city centre, close to all amenities and renowned institutions, including INSEAD, the Ecole des Mines, and the International School of Political Studies (UPEC). With Fontainebleau’s mainline station just a short walk away, Paris is only a 40-minute train journey. That means endless opportunities for travel, culture, and exploring France and the rest of Europe.
